Default Pain meds for toddler undergoing op

Hi All,

It' s been a while since I posted anything on this forum. I hope you are all well.

My LG has to undergo (a second) op on her hand and the last time (when she was about 9 months) the doctor's refused to let us give her anything stronger than Panado. The poor child suffered terribly from the pain and I don't want her to go through that again. She's now 18 months old. The doc said we could give her Ponstan. I think it is ridiculous to expect such a young child to endure that level of pain without proper pain meds.

Has anyone had experience with a child (of reletively the same age) undergoing an op, where they were allowed to give their anything stronger.

Please help!
